Marshall and Me
I've been working on the car and it's running great. I'm so glad that my dad has all the right tools and encourages me to learn how to use them. I bet most girls my age aren't into things like that, but I have great girl friends who accept me for who I am. My boyfriend Marshall is the total opposite of me! He loves music and could care less about cars. He's happy to have me drive him everywhere, and usually invites all our friends along, too.

Talk Back

That’s great that you have so many people on your side. It’s not always easy for me. I play hockey on the boys team. The boys are actually pretty cool with it and the coach liked me once he saw me play, but some girls at school make fun of me for it. I just try to tune them out and remember why I’m playing: because I love hockey and I’m good at it! I figure you have to encourage yourself. No matter what anyone else says, the best source of encouragement comes from within. If you don’t believe in yourself, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says.
