Wrap up your MP3 player with style this winter. Grab some small pieces of fabric, a few beads, a button, and you’re on your way to do-it-yourself cool.

What do you need?

  • Fabric and contrasting lining
  • Beads or trimming for the edges
  • Button
  • Ribbon
  • The usual: needle, thread, and scissors

What to do?

  1. Cut the top panel to 4 by 5 inches. Cut matching segments in both the fabric and lining. Place "right" sides together and sew all the way around, leaving a small hole to turn it the right way out. Turn it right side out, and hand-stitch the small hole closed.
  2. Cut the lower panel to 4 by 9 inches. Cut matching segments in both the fabric and lining. Place "right" sides together and sew all the way around, leaving a small hole to turn it the right way out. Turn it right side out, and hand-stitch the small hole closed.
  3. Place both panels together and sew close to the edges.
  4. Cut 2 inches of ribbon and sew to the lip of the 9-inch panel. Fold over and sew button to fit loop.
  5. Sew beads or trimming to edge of case.
