Keeping It Real Warm
By Clare Tattersall, staff writer
Wrap up your MP3 player with style this winter. Grab some small pieces of fabric, a few beads, a button, and you’re on your way to do-it-yourself cool.
What do you need?
- Fabric and contrasting lining
- Beads or trimming for the edges
- Button
- Ribbon
- The usual: needle, thread, and scissors
What to do?
- Cut the top panel to 4 by 5 inches. Cut matching segments in both the fabric and lining. Place "right" sides together and sew all the way around, leaving a small hole to turn it the right way out. Turn it right side out, and hand-stitch the small hole closed.
- Cut the lower panel to 4 by 9 inches. Cut matching segments in both the fabric and lining. Place "right" sides together and sew all the way around, leaving a small hole to turn it the right way out. Turn it right side out, and hand-stitch the small hole closed.
- Place both panels together and sew close to the edges.
- Cut 2 inches of ribbon and sew to the lip of the 9-inch panel. Fold over and sew button to fit loop.
- Sew beads or trimming to edge of case.
