Ready to Give It the Ol' College Try?

Are you thinking of going away to school? Do you have what it takes to make college a success? Take this quiz and find out.

1. Midterms are upon you. You found out the dates the first week of school. To study you:
  a. Have been learning everything in small increments all semester long. To study, you simply need to review your notes, which you have already started to do.
  b. Have slacked a bit during the semester, but have been cramming hardcore for a week, so you should be in good shape come the test.
  c. Wait till the absolute last minute—hey, you work best under pressure, and anyway you have so many more important things to do, like watching TV and talking on the phone.
2. You are dying to go away for spring break with your friends, and your parents have offered to pay for half of the trip. You:
  a. Are psyched! Half the money is half the battle. You can dip a little into your savings, and work down at the mall between now and then. Hola, Acapulco!
  b. Call your grandparents to see if you can get an "advance" on your graduation present. You're nothing if not a good negotiator.
  c. Throw a complete tantrum—after all, everyone else's parents are paying for their child's trip, why should you be any different?
3. The Black Eyed Peas are heading to your town for what's sure to be the concert of the year, but tickets are only available for mid-week. Your parents give you the green light, but only if all of your homework is completed first. Your friends decide to head out to the arena early to hang out before the show, but you still have math and Spanish homework left. You:
  a. Tell your friends you'll have to meet them at the concert. A deal is a deal, and your parents were cool enough to let you go at all.
  b. Finish your math and bring your Spanish homework along with you. You'll figure out some way to squeeze it in. There's always some downtime!
  c. Tell your parents you're done and meet up with your friends—your friends will let you copy theirs tomorrow, and besides, even if you don't get it done, it'll be worth it.
4. Your parents are going out of town and give you the choice to stay home alone. The catch? No parties. While they're away, you:
  a. Spend the weekend chilling with your favorite rentals and enjoying the peace and quiet.
  b. Invite your best friend over for pizza and gossip. Where's the harm in a little company?
  c. Throw an all-out bash. Hey, if not now, when?
5. You decide you're the next Alicia Keyes. The next logical step is piano lessons, and you sign up immediately. For the first three weeks, you're totally excited and practice all the time. By week four, you:
  a. Are sticking to it. Rome wasn't built in a day, and you can now play "Fur Elise"!
  b. Have chilled a bit with the practicing, but are still making progress.
  c. Are so over the piano…and besides, you're really the next Beyoncé (have you seen these moves?)
6. Discipline is:
  a. Making yourself study when you really want to go to the beach.
  b. Okay in moderation—work a little, play a little.
  c. What makes parents so awful!
7. After years of trying not to think about it too hard, you can no longer avoid the big decisions awaiting you. In planning for college, you have already:
  a. Gone to college fairs at your high school, visited some campuses, talked to your parents about what you can afford, looked into scholarship options and lined up interviews at the schools you really want to go to.
  b. Read a bunch of brochures that came in the mail, talked to your friends who are older than you about the schools they attend, and sat down with your guidance counselor.
  c. Gotten used to the partying lifestyle…turns out you're really good at it.
8. If left to your own devices, you would probably:
  a. Act basically the same as you do now.
  b. Spend a little less time working, and a little more time hanging out with friends.
  c. Um…need you ask?
9. The idea of a roommate is:

  c. Eww! Who wants to share a room? My mess, my room!
10. Your mom's come down with a terrible bout of the flu. Things around the house:

  b. Will be better when she is better but are still okay. I'm used to pitching in.
  c. Run completely amok. Me do dishes? Yeah, right!
