Dear Dr. M & Liz,
I am an outgoing person, but when I'm around guys I get all shy. I don't know what to do. Will you help me?
—Kathryn, 13, Ohio

Dear Kathryn,
Lots of girls are like you. And remember that lots of guys get tongue-tied when they're around girls. Maybe you could organize a community service project—you could do good while you're increasing your comfort level around guys.
—Dr. M
Dear Kathryn,
It's natural to be shy around guys—it happens to me all the time. Since you're usually outgoing, it should be a bit easier to get over your guy shyness. Just take a deep breath and close your eyes for a second to relax yourself. Then, pretend the guy you're talking to is just one of your girl friends, and just be yourself.
—Liz
