Dear Dr. M,
I have a problem: Believe it or not, I'm 12 years old (almost 13) and I've never been kissed by a boy. All my other friends have. What's wrong with me?
—Maya, 12

Dear Maya,
First, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you! Second, at 12–almost 13–you have lots of time ahead of you to be involved in romantic relationships. Each person has her own timetable for developing physically, socially, and emotionally. You're better off waiting until you're ready than rushing into something that you're not prepared for. Consider your own needs and values rather that looking at what your friends are doing.
—Dr. M
