Real Girls, Real Women Contest
Do you know someone who embodies the essence of the Girl Scout Movement? Who shows courage, confidence, or character? If you answered yes, this is the contest for you!
What's it All About?
The Real Girls, Real Women Contest is all about putting the spotlight on girls and women in Girl Scouting who show courage, confidence, or character. Think about the women in your world—know anyone like that? Were they ever Girl Scouts?
Courage
Courage can mean doing something physically or mentally challenging. It can be rock climbing or hiking a challenging course, getting up the guts to speak up on an issue that's important to you, or doing something that, just maybe, you're afraid of.
Confidence
You know that coach in your school who has really great self-esteem and always seems so sure of herself? Well, that's confidence. Confidence comes in all shapes and sizes. It can mean giving a speech in front of your whole Girl Scout council or simply tackling challenges or situations with a positive attitude.
Character
Character is what sets you apart from the person standing next to you; it's your attitude, behavior, and personality. Having good character means something different to each person. It can mean being honest, having integrity, being unique or true to yourself. Who has set an example of great character for you? Was she ever a Girl Scout?
Who Can You Nominate and How?
You can nominate a former Girl Scout, a Girl Scout volunteer, or a Girl Scout staff member. Explain how your nominee exudes confidence, courage, or character in these three ways:
- In an essay of 200 words or less
- Through a single photo or collage of photos
- Through a single drawing or a collage of drawings (sent via email)
Remember: If you submit a photo, drawing or collage, you still need to explain how her Girl Scouting experience helped give her the courage, confidence, and character to succeed.
