National Public Lands Day—September 18, 2004
Get Outdoors and Get Linked to the Land!
The weather is great in September. Plan ahead now to enjoy it while doing something great for the earth and your community. Organize a volunteer service project with your own group or join an established event in search of volunteers just like you. Imagine…you and your friends working beside land management agency professionals and other volunteers from the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, state and county parks, among others. Don't miss this opportunity! There are many ways to get involved. You could:
- Install bird boxes
- Plant flowers or trees
- Collect native seeds
- Paint picnic tables
- Repair stream banks
- Remove invasive species
- Weed plant nurseries
- Collect rubbish
- Renew trails
- Restore wildlife habitats
Register by September 7, 2004 and you'll receive the 2004 NPLD Poster, brochures to promote your event, and certificates for your award ceremony. You can also participate in the National Public Lands Day Girl Scout Photo Contest.
