Become America's Best High School Speaker…and Win a Four-Year College Scholarship

Here's your chance to become "America's Greatest High School Speaker" and compete for prizes including a four-year college scholarship for the first place winner.

Do you have something to tell the world? Words That Shook the World, a national high school public speaking competition, in cooperation with Lockheed Martin, Sandia Laboratories, The History Channel and other prominent national sponsors, invites high school students in America to speak their minds by participating in the 2nd National High School Public Speaking Competition.

Participants submit a three-minute speech titled, "My Message to America." Students are also invited to participate in Words That Shook the World Public Speaking Summer Fantasy Camp and Competition Training Program, where students can deliver speeches via cell phones or video cameras and receive feedback. There is no cost to attend the camp or compete in the speaking competition.

Here's what you do:

  • Go to the competition Web site and check out details on the competition and prizes. You can even view winning speeches from 2006.
  • Sign up for Summer Fantasy Camp. Learn how to become a more compelling communicator and leader. There is no charge.
  • Beginning August 24, 2007, submit your speech, record it and upload it to the competition Web site. Speeches will be judged online by thousands of high school principals and teachers. The ten best speakers will compete November 24, 2007 in Washington, D.C.

Go for it, tell your friends, and have lots of fun! Wouldn't it be great if a Girl Scout was among the ten best speakers in the country? Visit the Words That Shook the World Web site for guidelines, special activities and prize information.
