Underwater Explorers
Explore Two Worlds

Explore both above and below the water in Costa Rica and Panama.

Picture It

If you’re looking for the ultimate exploration of ocean, land and culture – this is the course for you! You’ll learn about Costa Rica and Panama’s history and culture while partaking in a wide range of adventures.

Get SCUBA certified in the Caribbean waters of Panama, learn about reef and coastal ecology, snorkel the colorful reef, wakeboard and kneeboard, and sail in a catamaran. SCUBA lessons begin with on-land technical instruction and then continue with shallow, contained dives in a lagoon. Land activities may include biking to nearby caves as well as interacting with and doing a service project for the local Guaymi tribes. Students on the 15-day course will also go sea kayaking.

In Costa Rica, you will explore the rainforest on an unforgettable canopy tour, zip-lining from tree to tree in the mountains of the Central Valley region. You will also get to brave the rapids during a day of whitewater rafting, and have the opportunity to experience the vibrant culture of San Jose during a city tour.

Girl Scouts will be exposed to Costa Rica Outward Bound’s unique approach to outdoor education and personal development. Woven into all activities are discussions and meetings about leadership. You will explore how the challenges you meet in and out of the Central American wilderness help you confront other challenges that life presents.
