Catching Waves in Costa Rica
Enter the tube, mind, body, and soul on a Costa Rica surf adventure

This 10-day surf adventure will give you the opportunity to learn how to surf or improve your existing surfing skills on a variety of beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Male domination in surfing is coming to an end -- be a part of the trend!

Picture It

Catching Waves will be the surf adventure of a lifetime! Join 14 surfers and experience a variety of water and beach-based activities against the backdrop of Costa Rica's tropical beauty. Learn about surf dynamics and philosophy, coastal ecology, environmental conservation. Travel to several of Costa Rica's world-famous beaches.

Instructors will provide detailed and holistic instruction about how to read waves, tides, and currents. They will give group and personal instruction on surfing—from the first time you stand up on a board to when you catch your first wave. In addition, you will participate in fun beach activities such as volleyball, soccer, and yoga. You’ll learn about endangered species and together will volunteer with a sea turtle conservation project. The last day of the trip will include an exhilarating day of whitewater rafting and a San Jose city tour.

Girl Scouts will be exposed to Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound's unique approach to outdoor education and personal development. Weaved into all activities are discussions and meetings about leadership. You will explore how the challenges you meet in and out of the Costa Rican waves help you confront other challenges that life presents.
