Girls in their last two years of high school are ending one career and beginning another. Becoming a student in college or technical school or working to support yourself is a
milestone that has been in the making since your first steps of independence when you went off to kindergarten!

Think of everything you’ve accomplished in the last decade. You’ve learned who you are and what you stand for. Although it wasn’t always easy, you kept moving forward and accomplishing new things.

In the younger years, your life was guided and shaped by adults, which is why so many of our role models are women we met during that time.

Grade school is when you learn important relationship skills that are still with you today.

In the middle school years, finding friends, keeping friends, and being a friend is often challenged by conflicts over boys, “girl drama” (relational aggression), puberty, and other changes. Still, looking back, many young women say it was their gal pals who helped them make it through.

In high school, girls discover they can have an impact that extends beyond their family, school, and community. Although the myth of “mean girls” who destroy others with their aggressive behavior gets a lot of press, in reality, girls have a tremendous capacity to improve the lives of others—and use their personal talents in a positive way.

That’s what this series is about: stories of girls just like you who have made a difference in the world around them.

Whether through an athletic accomplishment no one thought possible, a transition into the U.S. from a foreign country, activism, mission projects, or creating a nature walk on top of a forbidding mountain, these young women show all the positive potential of girls your age. Like you, they know the secret of relationship power and how to make a global impact, using their voices to broadcast important information and rallying to support friends who experience illness or a family crisis.

After each video segment, “Reflect and Respond” questions help you think about your accomplishments and impact on others. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss your values and set goals for personal and global changes.

It’s a diverse, delightful, and sometimes daunting world, but you can make a difference…

In fact, we’re counting on you!
